Burglar bars that are fixed to something solid

The weak point in most burglar proofing is not the steel, it is the fixing. Bars screwed into a plastered reveal with short expansion bolts come out with a pry bar and very little noise. We fix into brick or into the frame itself, use long anchors, and where the reveal is poor we build a sub-frame so the load is carried across the whole opening rather than by four plugs.

Every set is measured on site and cut to that opening. Standard sizes leave a gap somewhere, and a gap is where a bar gets sprung.

Fixed window guards

Square bar or flat bar in a welded frame, powder-treated and painted to match the joinery. We can follow an arched or splayed opening rather than boxing it off square, which matters on the older houses around Villieria, Rietfontein and Queenswood.

Openable and escape bars

Bedrooms need a way out. We fit hinged or removable sections with an internal release on sleeping-area windows so the room is not a trap in a fire. This is worth insisting on, and we will raise it whether or not it is on your list.

Security screens and door guards

Expanded-metal screens and steel-framed security doors for kitchen and back doors, which is where most forced entries actually start. We build the frame into the opening rather than surface-mounting it.

Palisade and boundary fencing

We build and install steel palisade fencing to height, and we do the repair work that usually follows a few years later — straightening bent pales, replacing snapped rails and re-setting posts that have loosened in the ground.
