Gate Motors & Intercoms in Pretoria North & East

Motors fitted, serviced and repaired — and the gate itself sorted out first, so the motor is not fighting it.

We fix the gate before we blame the motor

Most gate motors we are called out to have not failed on their own. They have been asked to drag a gate whose wheels have collapsed or whose track has bent, and the motor has given up first because it is the cheapest part of the assembly to break.

Because we build and repair the gates as well, we check the mechanical side first. If the gate does not roll freely by hand with the motor released, no new motor is going to last. That is a saving on the quote, not an upsell.

New installations

We size the motor to the mass and span of your gate rather than fitting the same unit to everything. Installation includes the rack, the limit magnets or endstops, the safety beams, the mounting plinth and the electrical connection back to the DB or to a spur.

Servicing

A service is worth doing roughly once a year: clean and grease the rack, check and adjust the limits, test the safety beams, check the anti-crush sensitivity, clean the terminals and load-test the back-up battery. Batteries are the single most common failure, and they always fail during load shedding rather than at a convenient moment.

Repairs and fault-finding

  • Gate opens but will not close, or vice versa — usually a beam or a limit fault
  • Motor hums but does not move — capacitor, gearbox or a seized gate
  • No response from remotes — receiver, coding or a flat battery in the handset
  • Gate creeps open on its own — limit or control-board fault
  • Nothing at all after a storm — surge damage to the board, very common in Pretoria's summer afternoons
  • Back-up battery dead, gate stops working the moment the power does

Intercoms, remotes and access

We install and repair intercom handsets and gate stations, replace and code remotes, add extra handsets, and fit keypads where a household is tired of losing remotes. We work on the brands commonly installed in Pretoria and can usually match a replacement unit to your existing setup rather than replacing the whole system.

A note on electrical work. Anything requiring a certificate of compliance must be signed off by a registered electrician. We will tell you plainly when a job crosses that line rather than working around it.

Areas we cover

We cover gate motor callouts throughout Pretoria North — Bon Accord, Akasia, Amandasig, Karenpark, Theresapark, Montana, Sinoville and Doornpoort — and out east through Faerie Glen, Garsfontein, Moreleta Park, Silver Lakes, Willow Acres, Equestria and Constantia Park.

Our workshop is on Plot 28, De Onderstepoort in Bon Accord, which keeps us close to both sides of the city. If your suburb is not named above, phone anyway — we travel.
